Bend-straightening
In the bend-straightening process the workpiece is measured and placed on two supporting anvils with the bend pointing upwards. During the actual straightening process the workpiece is bent down beyond yield point until the plastic deformation has reached the required measure. The straightening effect is achieved on the one hand by exceeding the yielding point in the soft core area on the bottom side of the workpiece and the related elongation of the workpiece. On the other hand the bending stress created during the straightening stroke also reduces the compressive internal stress on the bottom side of the workpiece.

The main advantages of bend-straightening are its speed and the high straightening accuracy that can be achieved without damaging the surface. For these reasons this method is preferred where possible.
